Fort Gay High School was tablished 1929 to serve the tnal needs of a growg populatn the small town. It was origally named Butler District High School before beg renamed 1933. The current buildg was nstcted 1931 the popular Bex-Arts style. Declg enrollment ed the high school to be closed 1987 and nsolidated wh Cm High School to Tolsia High School. The buildg remas standg and is the only origal high school the unty that retas much of s historic archectural tegry. It was add to the Natnal Register of Historic Plac 2017.

Trowbridge and Steven small town of Fort Gay experienced a large growth populatn durg the early 1900s; creased 35% between 1910 and 1920 alone. In 1921 a six room stcture was built for Fort Gay Grad School.

Fort Gay fell unr the Butler District for example. There was no buildg for the school at first so class were held the Hols Church, Knights of Pythias Lodge, and Fort Gay Grad School. This rulted all the district high schools beg renamed; Butler District High School was renamed Fort Gay High 1987, Fort Gay High School and Cm High School nsolidated to Tolsia High School loted along Tolsia highway on Route 52 outsi Fort Gay.
The last year for Fort Gay High School was 1987 and then Tolsia opened 1988. After the nsolidatn Fort Gay High School was ed as a middle school until was closed 2013 for rtoratn needs, and has sat empty sce then. Fg Fort Gay.
