To the bt of our knowledge, data on the mental health of LGB persons Serbia are lackg, and this is the first study to addrs this problem. The aim of the study was to exame the associatn between selected termants and prsn, and selected termants and suici attempts LGB and heterosexual populatns the Republic of Serbia, as well as, their differenc. Methods We nducted a cross-sectnal study 2015 of 264 heterosexual and LGB rponnts g the "snowball samplg" method. We ed lear regrsn analys to vtigate the relatnship between soc-mographic variabl and different sexual inty tegori wh PHQ-9 sr. We asssed associatns between suici attempts, and soc-mographic characteristics, sexual inty, prsn, and suicidal thoughts g logistic regrsn. Rults Deprsn symptoms were higher female relative to male participants, participants who were sgle, divorced or widowed parison to currently married, among people wh a middle level of tn pared to highly ted, and rponnts intified as bisexual or homosexual parison to heterosexual. Homosexual and bisexual participants reported suicidal attempts 27 [Odds Rat (OR) = 27.31] and six tim (OR = 6.40) more often than did heterosexual rponnts, rpectively. Suici attempts were ls equently reported by sgle, divorced or widowed participants parison to married (OR = 0.25) and those wh middle tn (OR = 0.38) pared to highly ted. Conclns The prent study showed that LGB persons Serbia have signifintly more symptoms of prsn and suici attempts pared to heterosexuals. Public health terventns should foc on the early tectn of prsn and on overg prejudicial and discrimatory attus. Also, terventn should emphasize that homosexualy and bisexualy are normal, equal and morally acceptable exprsns of human sexualy.

In 2011, one report dited that approximately 96.5 percent of the populatn was heterosexual, while the remar of the populatn reported, intified as homosexual or asexual.
