It’s hard to overstate jt how upset relig nservativ are about gay marriage. A new poll om the Pew Fom on Relign & Public Life found, not surprisgly, that opposn to gay marriage and homosexualy is hight among the most relig. Poignantly, homosexualy would seem to be the one topic that un the lears of the world’s fahs—an issue over which Frankl Graham and Malaysia’s Mahathir Mohamed uld break bread.
Why exactly are relig folks opposed to gay marriage? The most fashnable argument agast is that unrm the stutn of marriage (and therefore fay and therefore society), but I n’t help but thk this is a poll-tted ia that don’t really get at the te feelgs of the advot; the Pew poll, few people opposg the notn of gay marriage offered that up as the ma reason. Most said, stead, that gay marriage and homosexualy were herently “wrong” or vlated their relig beliefs.
