WASHINGTON — A majory of gay and bisexual Generatn Z teenage boys report beg out to their parents, part of an uptick g out among young people that rearchers have noted recent s, acrdg to rearch published by the Amerin Psychologil Associatn. In the study, published the journal Psychology of Sexual Orientatn and Genr Diversy®, rearchers examed survey data om 1, 194 13-to-18-year-old boys, all of whom intified as gay, bisexual or as beg attracted to people regardls of genr. Those intifyg as gay were more likely to be out to a parent than bisexuals or those unsure of their sexualy.
For many Generatn X, was the AIDS crisis, and for lennials, was the legalizatn of gay battl over whether all Amerins have equal rights, regardls of their sexual orientatn, helped shape each of those generatns. 1% of Amerins self-intify as lbian, gay, bisexual, transgenr or somethg other than straight, acrdg to a Gallup poll released Thursday, reprentg the hight share of the populatn sce the analytics firm began trackg the figure as more young Amerins say they are as LGBT.
About one five LGBT Amerins said they were gay, while 14% intified as lbian and 10% dited they were transgenr and 4% somethg else (those figur each acunt for ls than 2% of the total populatn).
