GAY BOGOTÁ TRAVEL: COLOMBIA’S GAY-FRIENDLY CAPITAL

The two ma ci, Bogota and Mell, each have a large gay neighborhood—pecially Chapero Bogota where you n fd the megaclub Theatron, the largt LGBTQ+ club Lat Ameri. There is a small gay scene Cartagena wh bars like Le Pet, La Plancha and Roma Club.

The LGBTQ scene here clus bars like Bar Chiqua, Don Aquellos and the Viva gay club. As wh most untri the world, there will always exist an element of homophobia, particularly ral muni around the ast. Bogota is the untry’s #1 LGBTQ statn wh one of the largt gay clubs the world—Theatron on Saturday nights.

After our first days Cartagena and before our fal Colombian statn Mellín, we would like to show you Bogotá’s highlights our Gay Bogotá Travel Journal. Although first looked like they were makg fun of , they were actually geekg out about our gay kiss. The tour brought around the cy to five gay bars and clubs endg wh Halloween night as Theatron, the biggt LGBTQ+ and gay club South Ameri.

For a relatively small cy the nservative state of South Carola, Columbia has a surprisgly fervent gay nightlife scene. A uple of the town's most popular LGBTQ+ bars are wh view of the stately pol buildg, and a few more mixed but gay-iendly bars and hangouts are the Five Pots retail and entertament neighborhood, not far om the Universy of South Carola.

GAY THE RED-LIGHT DISTRICT? - AMSTERDAM FOM

While Columbia isn't a gay mec, do rank among the more welg statns the state, and the cy hosts the annual South Carola Gay Pri celebratn. Visors n enjoy some gay-iendly plac to drk, de, and tch live mic this iendly cy and hub of South Carola polics and tn. While there aren't many exclively-gay bars or clubs Columbia, there are some lively on full of karaoke, dancg, drag shows, and drk specials, among other fun activi.

The Capal Club: One of the longt-nng gay bars the Southeast, and the olst Columbia, the laid-back and private Capal Club is a block om the pol buildg downtown.

WHERE TO GO WHEN IM YOUNG GAY? - AMSTERDAM FOM

PT's 1109: In the shadows of the pol buildg, PT's 1109 is arguably the most popular gay bar and nightclub Columbia, wh a good-size dance floor and drk specials.

There is also a big gay scene and around RLD (and all over Amsterdam) so their tn will be plete. Colombia has gay scene any major or medium-size cy and, my opn, one of the bt the world. Colombians ll Teatron the biggt gay club South Ameri, but I have never seen anythg of that sle London, NY or Tokyo.

This is actually the biggt gay club the world, but the crowd isn't exclively gay - lots of women and straight guys too. I wasn't sure whether to vis, but takg to acunt s size, I was expected cent gay clubs there and to my surprise they exceed my expectatns.

GAY CARTAGENA

My mentned plac aren't exactly cheap for an average Colombian, and some like Rumours are equented by wealthier crowd, so I spect there are plac for poorer gay Colombians to go to, too, but I know nothg about them nor whether would be safe to vis them. Otherwise enjoy - few untri the world will offer more to a gay traveller than Colombia.

There’s also a boomg LGBT tourism scene centred on Mell, Bogota and Cartagena – so, far om beg somewhere to avoid, ’s somewhere gay travellers should actively seek out! Homosexualy has been legal sce 1981 and 2011 a landmark anti-discrimatn law was passed tablishg prison sentenc for those found guilty of discrimatn.
