Gaye turned explicly rnal on 1973's Let's Get It On. In 1974, he released Marv Gaye Live! That same year, Gaye's ntent divorce om Anna Gordy was falized.

As part of the settlement, Gaye agreed to rerd a new album whose royalti would ver missed alimony payments. " A massive smash, reachg number one on both pop and R&B charts, "Got to Give It Up" was Gaye's biggt h of the dis era.
