Rerd durg the summer of 1971, ‘Funky Natn: The Detro Instmentals’ is the rult of some downtime Gaye had after refg to tour support of his game-changg classic album, ‘What’s Gog On’. Released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the tle track om ‘What’s Gog On’, the 14-track, funk-driven llectn of stmentals hears Gaye joed by the late Haton Bohannon on dms, Ray Parker Jr.

While some of the tracks have been heard on prr special edns of Gaye albums – and the full llectn was featured the Super Deluxe 40th-anniversary edn of ‘What’s Gog On’ – this is the first time ‘Funky Natn’ has been released digally as a standalone.
