As LGB dividuals experience a signifintly greater risk of fay rejectn and low fay support, our study vtigat the role of fay support as a potential termant of LGB sleep problems over a prolonged perd, and whether iend support (i.e. chosen fay) n migate the effect of low fay support. Given the importance of sleep on mental and physil health, study rults may help shed light on persistent health dispari across sexual orientatns. Our sample clud 1703 LGB dividuals om the UK Hoehold Longudal Study (UKHLS). Mixed-effect logistic regrsns were ed to timate the effect of fay and iend support on the velopment of sleep problems after 24 months while ntrollg for potential nfounrs. A modified Ptsburgh Sleep Qualy Inx was ed to measure 1) prence of any sleep problems, 2) short sleep duratn, and 3) poor sleep qualy. Fay support at basele was penntly associated wh all sleep problems our study after 24-months: 1 SD crease fay support was associated wh a 0.94 tim lower risk of sleep problems (95% C.I = 0.90-0.98), a 0.88 tim lower risk of short sleep duratn (95% C.I = 0.81-0.95), and a 0.92 tim lower risk of sleep qualy (95% C.I = 0.93-0.98). Support om one’s chosen fay (proxied by iend support) did not migate the effects of low fay support on sleep problems.
