I was tnted wh homophobic sults before I had any grasp of what beg gay, when I did reach awarens of my attractn to other boys, around the age of 12, was a difficult adjtment.
How uld I accept beg ‘gay’ whout also takg on all the judgement that my peers and society heaped upon that ‘liftyle’? My ma fence was my small circle of female iends – a band of misfs who went clubbg together lolly and , at the age of 17, is where I was first troduced to the gay scene, by someone a year olr om the next town who would drive down to the cy on the weekend. The 80’s London were such a meltg pot of trib and styl that was easy to be gay and a goth and have different venu to go to every night of the week which weled both.
