Open om 1:00 pm to 1:00 am, Habana Edburgh is the perfect venue to beg your night out around Edburgh’s gay scene. CC Blooms, named after the lead of the 1988 film Beach (played by Bette Midler), is one of the biggt gay clubs Edburgh. This sy bar is one of Edburgh’s longt-nng gay bars, known for s iendly atmosphere and reasonably priced drks (and also sponsors the Hot Sts, Stland’s first-ever LGBTQ football team).

Paradise Palms isn’t exactly a gay bar, but attracts a lot of LGBTQ patrons wh s funky r, creative dg optns, and drag baret. Victoria Bar is on Leh Walk, a 15-mute walk om the ma gay neighbourhood Edburgh.

Rose Street's Kenilworth pub was Edburgh's 'origal gay bar' and among a select band of boozers that extend a warm wele to the pal's gay muny prr to the Crimal Jtice (Stland) Act of 1980 g to effect.

It was all a far cry om the vibrant gay scene that Edburgh boasts today, centred around the multu of LGBTQI+ venu that make up Greensi's famo 'pk triangle', but back the seventi the lik of the Kenilworth and the Nelson Hotel the New Town was pretty much all there was. "The Kenilworth was really the first ma street bar that was openly gay and really showed that we were g out of the back streets and up ont and centre.

EDBURGH'S GAY SCENE

For those the gay muny, this prented a b of a problem as there wasn't really anywhere else to go. "And that was where the gay muny met - Crawfords. " The Kenilworth's time as a gay pub fizzled out towards the end of the 1970s, as Edburgh's gay scene branched out and expand wh the openg of the Lghg Duck at Howe Street and the ground breakg gay nightclub Fire Island on Prc Street.

Hopefully we will be back XWrten July 5, 2022Good gay pub It’s difficult to judge what this place would be like “normally” as Covid chang have really been taken very serly ed here. I did like the fact that this is a gay PUB wh real ale, not a bar.

There is a distct lack of tradnal pubs on the gay scene and I liked the atmosphere here, or I would have done if there was anyone else there. I feel sorry for the people of Edburgh if they thk this is a normal gay bar. I didn't realise for a gay bar they uld be so nclive.
