The only reason I was dly terted is bee I noticed Hanno Koffler, whom I had seen an earlier homosexual film I really enjoyed, Summer Storm. (I don't know what is but foreign gay films are always much better than Amerin on.

The story self is que passé pecially view of the progrs ma wh gay rights Europe and Germany particular. As a film buff myself and also as an dividual who has seen virtually every good film ma wh a gay plot, I n say this film stands at the very top, the hight peak, jt how betifully the story is told.

There are many more such gredients, of which the obv anti-gay attu wh the police force is an important one get really out of ntrol when Kay openly adms that he is love wh Marc, which he do on two ocsns: once among fellow police officers, and a send time agast Marc's parents.

He implicly plants the suggtn that Marc is also gay, tryg to force a cisn where Marc himself is not so certa about. Not only the parents but pecially the police force shows apparent pg problems wh havg gay (or assumed gay) people very near them. Still, the suatn is not whout hope, bee a send asslt on a spected gay lleague by the same offenr as the prev time, is not vered anymore by the team lear.

In spe of an overload of stereotyp and cliché's, the film seems acceptable for gay and straight viewers alike. It may very well serve to show the th l between homo and hetero, beg two ways of life not so clear cut as most "normal" persons assume. First, we are far away om the ual set of stereotyp for a gay theme movie.

Do not expect the "feme gay guy", " touch wh his sensive si" or the pictg of a nveniently acceptable near-miss female guy here, the two ma actors are betifully mascule and the whole relatnship will make many unsettled. And no no no - this was not about the "gay disease spreadg and rptg the straight guy" or "not realistic as takg place morn tim wh wi acceptance of gays". We also have a feel this movie is brgg to the foreont a topic beyond a classic gay theme - Marc would have been jt fe ntug his relatn wh Kay and Betta and raise a fay if there were no prsur (perhaps aga choosg the least ristance), a very "untradnal" way to live and not so black-and-whe (homo / hetero) we are acctom to.

He clearly has not learn to be a man before those reviews suggted this is about lt and not love but I would urge to thk aga as even that is treated briefly - I will pass on the relatively blend gay love scen: aga, I doubt that was the pot so no real efforts were ma here, only tryg to nvey eher some passn or gentle touch. Apparently, many viewers want to characterize the film's subject terms of a nflicted choice between heterosexualy and homosexualy, which mak about as much sense as merely portrayg s ntent as the treatment of a love triangle; reveals a rather limed level of engagement and even suggts that such issu are far om polilly rolved their mds.

I thk at the hospal is the very first time Marc feels what means to be gay. I want everybody know, gay or straight that this film is far more than jt "worth watchg", but I'll say this film is like one self-mirror, a realy that maybe happen everyday actg is great, I lled natural. I've seen some of gay theme films about gay police or gay law enforcement environment always or mostly turn bad, but here, "Free Fall" totally different.

I watch an enormo amount of gay film, and this ranks easily the top five films I've ever, ever seen this genre. And would be unfair to lim this to a gay dience - like Brokeback ( this rpect) is a story for a much larger dience.

Like even when he was tryg to ratnalize he wasn't gay, that had nothg to do wh , you really n't help who you fall love wh. Free Fall has shown up on a lot of lists of good gay films and while 's viewg 's really nothg you haven't seen before if you watch a lot of queer movi.

And wh that I am referrg to all those weak, or ocsnally horrible, films that al wh homosexualy. Didi Hallervorn and Sascha Alexanr Gersak were really really good their movi as one here als wh two separate issu of homosexualy. He fac lots of homophobia, but also tolerance om several lleagu.
