AlteRnaTiveS (as was origally known) was found 1987 by Bill Mann as a gay and lbian cultural anizatn Hartford, agast a backdrop of LGBT social activism, spired part by the ath of Richard Reihl and the trial of his killers. Wh Terri Reid as -chair, the anizatn explored a variety of different activi cludg theater, film, a gay history project and a lerary journal, Invert, which produced four issu. This was, after all, Connecticut’s first-ever Film Ftival, and at the time, a gay & lbian event such as this was que unual.
Another first 1995 was a program voted to the gay af muny, wh a sign language terpreter featured.
