She’s played the back half of the first season by Emma D’Arcy, who imbu the character wh a steely wisdom and ld gutss that make her seem perfectly sued to le the seven kgdoms. </p><p>Alicent, played now by Olivia Cooke, on the other hand, is a drama queen, a strategic emotnal manipulator, and, as of recent episos, somethg of a hothead. (This isn’t the first time Cooke has played a nnivg social climber marryg her way to the top. She starred Amazon’s adaptatn of <em>Vany Fair</em> as Becky Sharp and turned a pellg and very funny performance.) Her son, the one she wants to ascend to the Iron Throne, is a total prick. Rhaenyra is Powerful; Alicent is Polil. Alicent is an asshole; Rhaenyra is a badass. From what I n tell (readg the weekly roundup of <em>HOTD</em> mem posted by BuzzFeed, mostly), viewers are mostly Team Rhaenyra. Which I get. I like her too.
