” The march was solidary wh our sisters and brothers overseas who were beg discrimated agast, and particular, was memory of the raid ma by police on Stonewall, New York, where gay people fought back for the first time. As a woman, I found the Mardi Gras beme all about men and their sexual eedom rather than fightg the wir ncerns we had origally of homophobia, sexism and racism.

The posive aspect of havg Mardi Gras is that creas our visibily and has given hope to many young or isolated lbians and gay men who would not have seen or heard about all the groups.
It has created an attudal change the general public where they n see the fun si of beg lbian or gay and hopefully get ted about our to now? For some of who are not terted gettg married or beg regnised as facto, some of the same fights still exist, such as ensurg that there is not vert discrimatn agast lbians and gay men the workforce, tn, need to liver appropriate servic for olr members of our muny. There is still bullyg of young gays and lbians schools which requir dited programs of tn of teachers and stunts to stop discrimatn.
