Established 1972, the pageant is based on the Miss Ameri ntt and follows a siar current Miss Gay Ameri tleholr is Dex Poxter aka Dextaci, the 50th tleholr, crowned on January 20, 2022 Ltle Rock, Arkansas. In 1971, Jerry Peek opened the Watch Your Hat & Coat Saloon  Nashville, Tennsee, the cy’s first gay dance and show bar. Norman Jon, performg as Norma Kristie, peted reprentg Arkansas and was crowned the wner of the 1973 pageant and emer tleholr of the Miss Gay Ameri Pageant 1975, Jon assumed ownership of the pageant and later formed Norma Kristie, Inc., operatg and directg the Miss Gay Ameri pageant and the Mr.
