While there will be no flashy, celebratory paras this month—like New York Cy’s <a href=">WorldPri ftivi</a> last year, which was one of the largt LGBTQ+ celebratns the world to date—anizers this year are aimg a different kd of Pri. Across ci, anizatns plan to addrs <a href=">the current protts</a> agast racism and police btaly, as well as acknowledge the black activists who have shaped Pri’s history and led the fight agast relentls jtice and bigotry.</p><p>The Pri movement self began as a prott. The historic <a href=">Stonewall Rts</a> 1969 played an important role liberatg the LGBTQ+ muny and mandg equaly. This year Pri anizers say ’s more important than ever to regnize that many of the lears of this movement were people of lor. Among them were two transgenr women who were at the foreont of Stonewall: Marsha P. Johnson, who was black, and Sylvia Rivera, who was Latx. Estevan Montemayor, the board print for Christopher Street Wt (which aniz Los Angel Pri), told <em>Vogue</em> that the peaceful gatherg will assemble at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue, near the se where the first-ever permted Pri Para took place, and will ntue towards Wt Hollywood. “Fifty years ago, we marched on Hollywood Boulevard agast police btaly and opprsn, bee Marsha P. The panel will feature Transgenr District executive director Aria Sa’id, Natnal Center for Lbian Rights executive director Imani Rupert-Gordon, and the S.F. We always make sure we have diverse talent on our ma se, but we want to put even more foc on that [this year]. It will be hosted by trans journalist Ashlee Marie Prton and trans actor Brian Michael Smh, and the event will aim to ntue the spir of the yearly rally that has occurred New York Cy sce 1969. (The first rally was held jt one month after the Stonewall Rts.) “The rally is probably the olst Pri event, and we knew that we uld not have a year whout ,” says Correa. “There will be a strong foc on the experienc of trans people of lor.
