Organisers of the annual para and ftival will remember some of the trailblazers of the gay rights movement Brighton and Hove wh exhibns and lamppost banners across the cy the n-up to the event Augt.
The event was anised by the Ssex Gay Liberatn Front (SGLF). Photos om the event taken by The Arg were redisvered 2021, wh protters rryg banners which say “glad to be gay”, “gay but not ashamed” and “homosexuals are humans”.

A small brown packet of negativ sat the paper's photo archive for almost 50 years, until they were disvered six months ago by members of Gay Brighton Past, an onle history group -found by Alf Le Flohic, part of the Universy of Brighton's web team.
Now Gay Brighton Past have anised an exhibn of Brighton Pri 1973 photographs nng through Augt the wdows of the Ssex Bean chary shop at 130 St Jam's Street Kemptown.
“The ia that one’s 'Glad to be Gay' may sound terribly naive today, but was the begng of a whole notn that you uld be lbian or gay and not be ashamed - and stand up for yourself. He said at the time “many homosexuals ‘rponsible jobs’ steered clear of the mo march for fear of beg publicly intified and perhaps sacked as a rult.
