This show handl homosexualy so poorly.. The gay bartenr is siar, only exists to thirst after male characters, the are harmful stereotyp. But Nick never realized that his willgns to pretend to be gay — so that Js don’t have to nont the awkward problem of tellg a date she liv wh her ex — was strange and problematic.
Last night’s episo foced on three separate storyl: Nick pretendg to be gay so that Js’s new guy wouldn’t eak out about her livg wh her ex; Coach tryg to nvce Wston to stop playg “the long game” and e another strategy to bed one of their credibly attractive neighbors (Alexandra Daddar and Amber Stevens); and Schmidt preparg to say goodbye to his two “bt iends” as Cece nsirs gettg a breast rctn surgery.
Gay Nick: A Surprisgly Well-Handled Plot. I would argue Nick beg “Gay Nick” was handled pretty well by the show. Havg a character on a seri pretend to be a different sexual orientatn is not exactly a storyle that I would typilly suggt a show do (my ey are still rollg at Two and Half Men‘s plan to have Alan and Waln get married), but Nick’s speech about how gay men shouldn’t be put to box, pl his and Js’s imaged background for his gay persona (my favore part of Gay Nick’s history beg that his brother was a “unn guy” named Chip), shows New Girl attemptg to subvert stereotyp and actually give more thought and tail to this plot than most shows would.
