A filmmaker and activist, Evangelidis joed the fight for same-sex marriage as a member of the Gay and Lbian Communy of Greece, an anizatn that had been lobbyg for the extensn of civil marriage to upl regardls of sex sce s foundg 2004. Four years later, the muny found an unexpected ally Tassos Aliferis, the outspoken mayor of the Aegean island of Tilos, who agreed to perform the first gay and lbian civil marriag ever held Greece.
