When she was nomated for the Alumni Distguished Graduate Profsorship, Gayl said gave her an opportuny to reflect on the stunts she has worked wh over the years and what they have acplished sce graduatg om the program. To see and reflect on how our stunts have succeed reachg their goals, Gayl said, is the greatt award she uld have received. Gayl, who has served as an at-large member of the associatn’s Board of Directors sce 2018 and has been a member of the anizatn sce her time as a graduate stunt at The Oh State Universy, said she was surprised and honored when she was approached about nng for the print-elect posn. Gayl will serve a three-year term, begng November 2020 as print-elect before beg print 2022 and immediate past print 2023. As print-elect, Gayl said that she hop to highlight and promote the work that scholars the field of higher tn are dog to addrs challeng postsendary tn and beyond and to build on iativ to support graduate stunts and early-reer faculty.
In addn, as the world of higher tn grappl wh the ongog ronavis panmic and issu related to racial jtice, Gayl hop to seize the challeng as an opportuny for change. “Durg my time this role, I want to enurage our members to keep dog good work, to get to good trouble, turn fear and anger to urage and actn, take tellectual risks and do so wh re and passn for others, ” Gayl said.
