A tall East Asian teen don’t experience the same stereotyp as short Asian people, who are ually mocked for jok media like the film <em>Lost In Translatn</em> or the s <em>2 Broke Girls</em>. In <em>Heartstopper</em>, there are multiple referenc to Tao’s lack of athleticism (he ns slowly, and his arms are too “twig-like” to excel at bowlg), and yet his towerg height strangely gets no mentn, which suggts the character might not have been changed thoroughly enough to reflect Gao’s stg.</p><p>As a fellow cephile, I was lighted to see Tao’s room plastered wh movie posters. Promently displayed are: <em>Ferris Bueller’s Day Off</em>, <em>Donnie Darko</em>, Godard’s <em>Breathls</em>, <em>Amélie</em>, <em>The</em> <em>Tman Show</em>, and <em>Close Enunters of the Third Kd</em>. (His worst nightmare is watchg <em>Avengers</em> wh gby lads.) While all ftg films for a film lover, was disappotg to see the curatn not reflect any of Tao’s cultural herage. Bong Joon-ho’s <em>Parase</em> or Park Chan-wook’s <em>Oldboy</em> might not be proper referenc for the young dience of <em>Heartstopper,</em> but surely works by Ang Lee, Wong-Kar Wai, Ryûse Hamaguchi, or Hayao Miyazaki would be wh Tao’s wheelhoe.
