The Effects of Prostate Cancer Treatment on Role-In-Sex Gay and Bisexual Men: Mixed Methods Rults om the Rtore-1 and Rtore-2 Studi. Lbians and gay men experience tolerance of their sexualy, discrimatn and victimisatn (Reference Mays and CochranMays & Cochran, 2000) and appear to have higher rat of anxiety, prsn, substance e disorrs and suicidal behavur than heterosexual men and women (Reference Hershberger and D'AugelliHershberger & D'Augelli, 1995; Reference Fergson, Horwood and BetraisFergson et al, 1999; Reference Lock and SteerLock & Steer, 1999; Reference Cochran and MaysCochran & Mays, 2000).
Furthermore, many studi did not clu a parison group (Reference Atkson, Grant and KennedyAtkson et al, 1988; Reference CoyleCoyle, 1993; Reference PillardPillard, 1998), employed nvenience sampl, applied unual fns of homosexualy (Reference Fergson, Horwood and BetraisFergson et al, 1999), or failed to differentiate between fdgs gay and bisexual people. Five per cent of the Brish populatn is timated to be gay or lbian (Reference Johnson, Mercer and ErensJohnson et al, 2001), but recg a probabilistic sample is unlikely to achieve sufficient numbers (Reference Gilman, Cochran and MaysGilman et al, 2001) or ndid rpons. Probabilistic samplg predomantly gay and lbian neighbourhoods has been ed the USA, but is limed bee most gay people do not live such neighbourhoods.
