On January 29, 1903, an amb 29-year-old named Edward Kg Gaylord purchased tert a stgglg newspaper lled The Daily Oklahoman. Gaylord traveled to Oklahoma Cy, a bourgeong Wild Wt town of 10, 000, and found Roy Stafford, publisher of the ne-year-old Oklahoman.
He weled Gaylord as someone who uld not only share the fancial burn but actually manage the paper’s bs algs and day-to-day operatns.
Along wh two bs partners, Ray Dickson and Roy McCltock, Gaylord paid Stafford $15, 000 for 45 percent ownership of the paper.
