Atks agre: “the qualy of gay life hg on the personal whim of whoever is power. This potential social regrsn is what drove “The Gay Herage Project” to existence. Atks me out durg the AIDS crisis and he unrstands better than anyone the importance of gay people raisg their voice.
“The only reason I’m alive today is that gay people before me ma noise and ma sure that the word got out about HIV. At one pot was gay people, now there are lots of queer people of lour, women and lns of people on the Ain ntent who are not gettg the re they should. Growg up Edmonton, Atks remembers how important the support of his gay mentors was to the formatn of his own inty and self-teem.
“I me out a gay muny that was the thro of panic and tastrophe” he says, “ imprted self on my DNA the form of rage. ” The sense of inty and muny, that “The Gay Herage Project” seeks, uld be the antidote to the spair felt by many the queer muny.
