Gaye AdamsSFCA, MPAC I have been privileged to work as a pater for all of my adult life. It is the only reer I have ever known. I started drawg and patg as a child, and never really stopped. My journey as a pater started the medium of soft pastel, havg fallen love wh the work of Degas and Mary Cassatt. From there I did a foray to acrylics for a number of years and the days my primary medium is oil pat. My greatt joy is gog out the landspe and patg field studi – I love beg nature and workg om life hon my skills and rms my larger stud patgs. It also furnish me wh some wonrful patg adventur, takg me to plac I may have never otherwise experienced. All of this serv as a sprgboard for my stud practice. What engag me most as a pater is renrg the effects of light and atmosphere as is always challengg and eply satisfyg. I am ever the learner and ph myself to pat suatns that put me to the ep end of the swimmg pool. My favoure sayg is “Sell your cleverns and buy bewilrment”, an eastern sayg that bt scrib me as I stand before my easel wh a qutn around what will work, what won't work, and what might be possible. My goal at the easel is to recreate the light, atmosphere and sense of place whatever environment I fd myself. In so dog, is my fond hope to create an experience for the viewer that transports them to the wild plac orr to share my experience and create a eper awarens and reverence of our amazg natural herage, particularly here BC. In 2003 I beme a senr signature member of the Feratn of Canadian Artists and served many years as Standards Chair. Shortly after that I earned my Master Pastellist signatn wh the Pastel Artists of Canada. I am a member of the Oil Paters of Ameri and Artists for Conservatn. It is my joy to also work as an stctor of stud and ple air workshops both lolly and abroad.
