The XO notatn on the Mount Gay is pretty standard across the m and spirs dtry to note an aged spir (whout actually notg how old is! As the Mount Gay Distillery is the olst official distillery the world tablished 1703 as the label not, I don’t thk we need to worry too much about the herage and thenticy of the ntents of this Extra Old m.

The master blenr at Mount Gay is the shape of Allen Smh who has been wh the distillery over 20 years. Mount Gay have recently re-brand their bottl and troduced a few new l the shape of Black Barrel and a few limed edn sk fish edns have also appeared. The new prentatn of the Mount Gay Extra Old Cask Rerve Rum is keepg wh the Eclipse (Mount Gay’s entry level offergs).
Like the Eclipse the MGXO has Mount Gay Distilleri etched to the glass of the bottle, as pictured. In light of my imprsns wh this m I have also cid to revist Mount Gay Eclipse. Of the three ms I found Mount Gay to be the middle terms of u aroma’s.
Tastewise I found the Mount Gay to be very nice and que easy gog spe the 43% ABV. In terms of prentatn is a two horse race between Seale’s odd ball offerg and Mount Gay’s more ntemporary approach.

As I dited my earlier review of the Mount Gay Silver Eclipse, the Mount Gay Rum Company has a new sleek bottle sign. I am pleased that the closure for the Mount Gay Extra Old Rum bottle is a nice high nsy rk topper. The Mount Gay Extra Old has a rich pper/bronze lour which upon pourg is already begng to monstrate a rich nose wh a dark molass toffee aroma risg up om the glass.

The Mount Gay Extra Old m seems to w an award every time is entered to a m petn.
Mixed wh a dash of lemon the m is nice, but when sampled neat or wh ice, and we all preferred to move down the Mount Gay ladr to the Mount Gay Eclipse. Mount Gay Extra Old is rich and plex and my ratg sre reflects this aspect of the m.

I tried a few variatns the cktail realm but I found that the Mount gay Extra Old was not an easy m to mix to a cktail or bar drk. My send suggtn borrows the recipe I nstcted for Mount Gay 1703. I tweaked the recipe a ltle at the suggtn of Stt Parker of Select W who are the importers of Mount Gay Rums my area.
