Like the wrers jt took advantage of the fact that the origal actor, Gee Takei, is Asian and (openly) gay, and, arguably, famo ( part) for those two facts, so sce the current actor is also Asian but not gay (openly? ), why not make the character gay though bee now 's two-for-one, and maybe 'll look ol, like a tribute to Gee or somethg. Sulu is gay!
