The Dorian Society was the first and only homophile anizatn Seattle, officially found 1967. Heer had been active the homophile movement Boston before movg to Seattle. The Dorian Society targeted heterosexual alli by portrayg homosexuals as rpectable cizens.
While advotg the repeal of Washgton State’s anti-sodomy law and creased servic for homosexuals, Dorian Society members also enuraged members of the gay muny to nduct themselv rponsibly public.
In 1969, the anizatn tablished a “Dorian Hoe” on Capol Hill, which was the first gay stutn Seattle that was neher a bar nor a bathhoe. The Dorian Society produced the newsletter Columns, the foundatn of Seattle Gay Cy Bs Guild. Gay bar and bathhoe owners formed the Queen Cy Bs Guild the 1960s.
