Kathleen Gay Patterson Thomas was born January 11, 1941 Oklahoma Cy, Oklahoma to Joseph and Marguere Patterson, and passed away her beloved town of Edmond, Oklahoma on the eveng of March 16, 2023. Kathy graduated 1959 om John Marshall High School. She peted speech and bate, loved gog to the movi, and won 2nd place Oklahoma Cy’s Most Betiful Voice petn. Her senr year, Kathy met the love of her life, Robert Thomas. Followg graduatn, they married at Lwood Methodist Church Oklahoma Cy on November 28, 1959. As newlyweds, Kathy and Bob moved to South Rank where Kathy adopted Bob’s love and herage of Edmond, Oklahoma. They raised three wonrful children, Terri, Robbi, and Allen. Kathy served as PTA Print of Orvis Risner Elementary, chaired the Mothers Group at the Uned Methodist Church, and was an active member and lear of Edmond’s Chapter D PEO. She later served as Church Secretary at Southern Hills Christian Church, then joed the Alrn State Farm Agency downtown Edmond. She enjoyed workg and spendg time wh her iends at the neighborg Barrett Dg Store, and retired 1994 om Rod Eskridge State Farm. After retirement, Kathy and Bob enjoyed beg docents at the Oklahoma Cowboy and Wtern Herage Mm and supportg the Edmond Fe Arts Instute. Kathy also exprsed passn for her town through her work wh the Edmond Historic Prervatn Tst and the 1889 Terrorial Schoolhoe, and as a member of Edmond’s Cambridge Club. She served as chairman of LibertyFt 1989 and supported the Edmond Chop Society. Kathy also helped cultivate Edmond’s bety wh her ntributns and love of public art, and was the drivg force acquirg the statue “Touch the Clouds,” which ss proudly on the mp of UCO. Kathy was exced about the growth and progrs of Downtown Edmond. Kathy loved to travel and had great stori om Hong Kong, Rsia, Italy, Alaska, and her very favore, New York Cy. It was her love of travel, and the shared love of art and mountas wh Bob, that led them to their “happy place” Ruidoso, New Mexi, where they enjoyed roamg art galleri and visg wh iends. In later years, Kathy loved stg on her mounta wh her ltle dog and nstant si-kick Cooper, where she crocheted afghans and enjoyed the bety of her home away om home. Kathy was preced ath by her forever love, Bob, and her parents. She is survived and celebrated by her three children: Terri Turner; Robbi Knaird and hband, Stt; and Allen Thomas and wife, Chele. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Michele Koopman and hband, Chris; Calyn Deason and hband, Jared; Kelsi Thomas and fiancé, Matt Capshaw; Beth Anne Knaird and hband, Alan Clark; Jack Knaird; Logan Turner; and Theo Knaird. Kathy also had six wonrful great-grandchildren: Calv Koopman, Rylan Deason, Bryce Deason, Adam Deason, Lus Thomas, and Savannah Capshaw. She is also survived by her sister, Jody Stone of Hoton, sister--law Jan Boygton and hband Don, as well as many niec and nephews. A Celebratn of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 23, at First Christian Church Edmond. The live streamg of the service will be available at day of the service.
