Ang “Dmmie Zeb” Gaye, who has died sudnly aged 62, was a foundg member of Aswad, one of the most succsful Brish reggae groups. Gaye’s propulsive dmmg, which often rporated trite rolls peppered by strikg rhythmic accents and sometim unmon time signatur, helped give Aswad a distctive edge om their earlit begngs the mid-1970s. Gaye’s vol skills and songwrg abily were also put to good e the group, which he began ontg the mid-90s.
