Gay and bisexual inty velopment among female-to-male transsexuals North Ameri: emergence of a transgenr sexualy. Sr for sexual inty, self teem, sexual functng, and psychologil adjtment were pared to those of a parison group (N = 76 nontransgenr gay and bisexual men). Of the 25 FtMs, 15 (60%) intified as gay, 8 (32%) as bisexual, and 2 (8%) as queer.
The FtM group was more bisexual than the nontransgenr gay and bisexual ntrols. Most were "out" as transgenr among iends and fay, but not on the job or wh the gay muny. Disclosure and acceptance of their homosexualy was limed.
The sexual inty of gay and bisexual FtMs appears to mirror the velopmental procs for nontransgenr homosexual men and women several ways; however, participants also had experienc unique to beg both transgenr and gay/bisexual.
