Experienc of racism, homophobia, and transphobia U. The Natnal Black Jtice Coaln (NBJC) is a civil rights anizatn dited to the empowerment of Black lbian, gay, bisexual, transgenr, queer and same genr lovg (LGBTQ/SGL) people, cludg people livg wh HIV/AIDS.

NBJC’s missn is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma. The Lbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgenr Equy Center serv all LGBTQ+ stunts, faculty, and staff at the universy.

The center also facilat participatn events such as the Pri Para, Black Gay Pri Week, Dragstavaganza, and Trans Day of Remembrance. The center was created 1992 after a remendatn om the Select Commtee for Lbian and Gay Concerns. At my school, the very place that I first observed queer cursy, I was sred to e out, fearg my own physil and emotnal wasn’t jt the school locker room where I heard homophobic remarks.

Perhaps was the support of iends, nts, and those around me that ma me not want to feel ashamed about myself anymore, even if that meant God damng me to the begng of senr year, I went om “I’m gay” to whoever asked, to “Can you stop sayg faggot please?

A month later, I cid to no longer participate the mentorship program, and every time I was asked why, I ma exc about beg too time, I retreated to my fantasy world, where I was not sixteen and gay a homophobic environment, but a world where I was olr, the future, when I would arrive to a betiful home om a long day at work, and be weled by a hband who lov me and bears my burns on his shoulrs. I was thrilled to be leavg and movg on, but I uld see that many of my fellow graduat were facg siar hurdl, on that I had enuntered, and had only masked their tth wh homophobia. Black gay men have always ma history.

The history of Ameri would not exist whout Black gay men. They've served as civil rights lears, revolutnary artists, labor anizers, scientists, policians, and tors, and their impact has touched every part of this still, many Black gay men are fotten, and erased om history, wh their acplishments beg washed away. But Amerin history is Black history, and is Black gay history.

So we've put together this list of jt some of the important Black gay men who have changed Ameri and the World. He fought for civil rights for Black Amerins, as well as labor rights and gay rights the '80s. Baldw is one of Ameri's greatt wrers, as well as a powerful activist the civil rights and gay rights movements.
