Philalphia's first Gay Pri Para was held Rtenhoe Square on June 11, 1972, down Chtnut Street, endg at Inpennce Park wh over 10, 000 people marchg. From 1977 to 1988, there were no official gay pri paras Philalphia. The cy rumed s gay pri para on June 18, 1989, when 1, 000 people marched om 10th and Spce to JFK Plaza.
They mted to "highlight the stori of LGBTQ+ Philalphians still fightg for equaly" and honor "the origs of LGBTQ+ liberatn, cludg the protts at Dewey's Philalphia, Stonewall, and the first Philalphia Gay Pri monstratn 1972.
