And a big part of that was jt makg sure that the songs were actually fully formed and fished before throwg any bells and whistl, I gus … I don't know what spired . What do you thk about gay yearng? Do you thk 's rctive, or do make sense to you why that's such a theme queer art?</strong></p><p>It do make sense to me. I jt thk herently, <em>Lh</em> has so much yearng , and I attribute that to beg not entirely out of the closet. Like, high school, beg like, “There's no gay people my quiet, suburban neighborhood. Where n I fd te love?” That mak sense to me, om a personal perspective. Maybe there's jt a lot of steps that e between disverg that you're gay and actually gettg to be love, and trag your bra to be able to accept that the way that you love is not what you've been tght. But still n be ial and n still be what you've dreamt of. I'm like, “Is that yearng?”</p><p>The thg that I fd rctive is “sad girl” stuff. Bee I'm a sad girl, I won't lie. I'm a <em>sad girl</em>. And mak sense that the mic is sad bee 's my tth. But ’s like, not to be on a soapbox, but sometim puttg all the women that have emotns and are wrg about a tegory, I’m like, “What do that have to do wh mic?” Like, we weren't askg Kurt Coba about whoever, we weren't askg Ellt Smh about whoever. I was jt g out of somethg that had been really ser for me and tense. And then, I wasn't on tour, the panmic started, and I had to make a rerd. I was like, “Wow, everythg has been such a nice distractn up until now. I thk helps to be as real wh yourself as possible. Like, whatever's keepg you om beg real wh yourself is, I thk, important to elimate when you're workg on somethg like this. I tend to isolate and jt try to spend as much time straight workg on stuff, bee that's when you really h the terrible, sensive, all alone imagery. You n't be partyg and you n't be hangg out wh iends ... You have to make honty your pg mechanism. Jt g out of that perd of ializatn, and realizg that relatnships n't be between people and ncepts, they're between people and people.</p><p>There is a certa loss of nocence that jt wh experiencg real life. And I thk you get a ltle taste of all of the stag of grief all the songs... and acceptance is sort of there. I uld go on and on and on about the self-actualizatn procs that happened the perd of time before and after makg the rerd.
