Capal Pri was origally lled Gay Pri Day. It changed s name to Gay and Lbian Pri Day 1981, and to Capal Pri 2000.
Black Pri is the first official black gay pri event the Uned Stat and one of two officially regnized ftivals for the Ain Amerin LGBT muny. Yet many LGBT men and women of Ain scent ntue to feel the need to velop muny to stand agast HIV/AIDS, homophobia spired vlence and the bigotry that exist the world. Their visn and hard work gave life to the first Black Gay and Lbian Pri event on May 25, 1991 on the grounds of Banneker Field.
This historic event was a llaboratn among many anizers and anizatns cludg the DC Coaln of Black Lbians and Gay Men and the Inner Cy AIDS Network, and ntued the tradn of the Children’s Hour, while also raisg funds for the HIV/AIDS anizatns that served the Ain- Amerin muny Washgton and the surroundg area.
