Aim of the study: The study aimed to quire if sexual inty was related to performance anxiety, and if proximal mory strs procs ntributed to performance anxiety gay and bisexual men. Subject or material and methods: The prent study was based on a database obtaed om a larger In-ter-based rearch project on the sexualy of Polish men of different sexual inti. The prent sample nsisted of 3,495 participants, i.e., 1,096 straight, 1,701 gay, and 698 bisexual men. The ma oute measure was performance anxiety which was measured g a sgle-em qutn: Durg the last 12 months has there ever been a perd of several months when you felt anx about your abily to perform sexual-ly? Explanatory variabl were mographics, relatnal and sex life characteristics – measured g a self-signed qutnnaire, and mory strs procs – measured g the Sexual Mory Strs Sle. Rults: Gay and bisexual inti were related to performance anxiety bivariate analys however they lost their signifince when other factors were ntrolled for. Relatnal stat was intified as rponsible for this change. Internalised homophobia, and expectatns of rejectn ntributed to performance anxiety mory men. Discsn: A subset of gay and bisexual men, i.e., men who do not stay mted relatnships, may be particularly prone for velopg performance anxiety, which is one of major factors ntributg to sexual dysfunctns. Mory strs procs should be clud planng clil terventns targetg sexual problems th populatns. Conclns: Gay and bisexual men’s sexual problems need to be addrsed an dividualised manner, wh cln of mory specific procs.
