In 1947, after promotg two major sell-out untry shows starrg Eddy Arnold, Gay moved more towards promotnal work. His iendship wh Jim Denny, a fellow promoter but also the manager of the Grand Ole Opry, led to Gay promotgOpry acts and quickly tablishg himself as a major promoter. Gay died of ncer, at his home McLean, 1989.
