The Gay Men’s Chos of Washgton, DC (GMCW) sgs to spire equaly and cln wh mil performanc and tn promotg jtice and digny for all. In the early 1960s, was illegal to be gay. On November 27th, 1978, Harvey Milk, a gay polician, was shot and killed San Francis.

In rponse to this horrible crime, the San Francis Gay Men’s Chos (SFGMC) was born.

This unprecented and darg anizatn beme the first openly gay men’s chos the US. In June of 1981, they performed at the Kennedy Center, spirg a group of dividuals right here DC to form their own gay men’s chos. And so began the Gay Men’s Chos of Washgton, DC.

The Asheville Gay Men’s Chos has served the lol Asheville muny throughout our long history. We performed for the Gay Studi Conference helpg to promote diversy and unrstandg.
