Built 1929 as a manufacturg storage buildg for the Mchell Camera Company, this buildg was first turned to a nightclub lled The Factory 1967. The club was credibly popular among Hollywood's el and celebri, wh a board of directors that clud Pl Newman and Sammy Davis Jr. Dpe s glamoro stat, The Factory closed only four years after openg. In 1974, the buildg was then purchased by Stt Forb- an openly gay Beverly Hills optometrist and party promoter. Renamed as Stud One, the distheque beme one of the most well-known gay nightclubs the Uned Stat and hosted celebri such as Joan Rivers, Liza Melli, Bernatte Peters, Ta Turner, and Patti LaBelle. Stud One was also known for s discrimatory door policy, which notorly exclud most women, racial mori, and lower-class people. Forb closed Stud One 1988. Open seven nights a week om 9 PM to 2 AM, Stud One beme one of Wt Hollywood's most popular gay male tablishments.
