A new normal, where “you n’t go a block whout seeg a kid’s face” or “a cross” or “somethg that remds you of what happened.” The school is now closed but remas standg, as do the memorials erected for the victims. “The murals of all of the kids, different kids [who] died that day, are jt everywhere.” </p><p>It’s been a year sce a shooter killed 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School one of the adlit school shootgs US history. The tragedy is not only the liv lost but those that uld have been saved had police acted sooner. We now know that members of law enforcement—<a href=">376 total</a>, om multiple agenci, arrived at the scene of the shootg—uld have potentially stopped the shooter wh three mut and were <a href=">equipped</a> to do so; stead, amid a breakdown munitns and learship, and spe 911 lls om children si of the classroom, they waed 77 mut to act. </p><p class="paywall">We know this, and many other thgs about what went wrong Uval, thanks to the unrelentg work of journalists like Prokupecz. Texas officials tried om the start <a href=">to nta</a> the disastro revelatns, seemgly releasg what ltle rmatn they did when nflictg timel or leaks left them no other choice. Given the lack of transparency, media outlets took on an outsized role, tryg to get answers for the muny and holdg law enforcement acuntable over their botched rponse. “Throughout this last year dog this story, jt has seemed that was me and my team and CNN gog to the fai and sayg: Here’s the rmatn we’ve unvered.
