TONIGHT THE GAYBORHOOD: FLASH GORDON
I am not one to cry out "gay" when I see two men exprs a powerful bond, but several people I have watched the film wh now agree that Flash Gordon has one of the biggt gay, or S&M, them gog 1980s film.
Featurg blond pretty boy Sam Jon the tle role, some of the most garish stum the history of cema, chey dialogue galore, a tchy pop/rock soundtrack by Queen, poorly nstcted props (and a few rather suggtive lookg on), marvelloly hammy performanc om a fe llectn of cult character actors (cludg Department S's Richard Wyngar, Rocky Horror's Richard O'Brien and good old Brian Blsed), and spectacularly ropey special effects (all wir clearly visible), Flash Gordon is que possibly the most gleefully daft, over-the-top, knowgly tacky, and outrageoly flamboyant sci-fi film ever 't be put off by the fact that the film is perfect for a themed night at the lol gay bar, though—Flash Gordon might be mper than a row of tents, as the sayg go, but there really is somethg for everyone but the most joyls of movie pedants: we get fantastil floatg worlds that predate those Avatar by three s, there's pet dwarfs, crazy laser battl, a whip-wieldg domatrix, assorted sexy bts skimpy outfs, and even a ltle 'gore' (both Mg and his henchman Klyt meet nasty fat)—PLUS for every shot of our hero a tight T-shirt or leather hot-pants, we get several of the geo Ornella Muti (as Mg's sultry dghter Prcs Aura) her figure huggg red tsu, easily rivallg Buck Rogers' Er Gray the sexy Spanx stak. Gay nerd herd! Tonight a bunch of gaymers are meetg up to watch Flash Gordon Cal Anrson Park.
