How, at that time and for much of the time leadg up to the prent, was a young gay person to filtrate that world? To bee a hoehold name when they uldn't be—and wouldn't be—seen as viably marketable, or, more importantly, viably sexy to the all-important female fan base that buoy today's pop superstars?</p><p data-no-id="28" class="p1 css-aeyldl et3p2gv0">So that dream never even left the gate, like don't wh so many young, aspirg people, straight or gay. Only regardg the latter, our nfince was, and still n be, doubly screwed by a mire of prejudice. There have been those who pursued  anyway, sure, but I'd never say that we're where we need to be when to LGBTQ artists gettg their due. If that were te I wouldn't even need to be wrg this. "I thk we're fely movg fast to where we need to be," Sivan says, "but the lack of diversy the mastream is still staggerg. The fact that, like, Anthony and the Johnsons is one of the only trans acts that I n thk of mic mak me upset.
