Our story begs as a rponse to the need for safe spac for the gay muny to gather and to have accsible, qualy, non-judgmental rmatn and servic. Our history begs on November 27, 1978, when the non-prof anizatn Gay Communy Servic (GCS) for safe space meetups was created. Later that year, Gay Men’s Hotle was formed.
The number was 407-THE-GAYS and was staffed by volunteers. Gay men uld ll for referrals, mental health unselg, and up-to-date rmatn on GCS meetups.
In 1980, women joed GCS, and the anizatn was renamed Gay & Lbian Communy Servic (GLCS).
