and she said,</p><p>Who changed your diapers when you were a kid?</p><p>I know exactly who you are.</p><p>(gentle mic)</p><p>This is a photo of my mom, and this is her high school</p><p>graduatn picture and this is one of my favor</p><p>bee I look like her this.</p><p>I first realized my moms were lbians</p><p>when I was, I believe the fourth gra,</p><p>and I walked to the kchen and saw</p><p>my mothers kissg, and I had never seen them be timate</p><p>wh each other, and I remember cryg.</p><p>I didn't unrstand, and then she said,</p><p>Well, do you know who we are, what we are?</p><p>And I said, Well, you're my moms.</p><p>And she said, Well, we are lbians.</p><p>I have affectn for a person who's like me.</p><p>It was a hard time grow' up, Harlem the 70s.</p><p>We moved around, like, 11 tim, bee the landlords</p><p>were homophobic and when they knew was two women</p><p>wh their children, they would do horrible thgs.</p><p>I remember one Christmas, we were ' home</p><p>and we had a betiful big apartment.</p><p>And we walked to the apartment</p><p>and our keyhole was pletely empty,</p><p>and our Christmas tree was gone,</p><p>all of our Christmas gifts were gone,</p><p>our furnure was gone, looked</p><p>like we had never lived there.</p><p>They broke down and my sister and I</p><p>jt looked pletely nfed,</p><p>and then they jt told , you know,</p><p>We have to move aga.</p><p>But our mothers always kept good spirs.</p><p>We never knew aga the homophobia</p><p>that we were volved , livg .</p><p>My mother and my sister, was the four of </p><p>agast the world, and I should've been able</p><p>to say my mother was a lbian</p><p> this mted relatnship for 24 years.</p><p>And I've always wanted to be able to stand up for my mom,</p><p>bee she didn't have that eedom as a person</p><p>to be out at that time.</p><p>By law, you uld be taken away om your mother</p><p>bee she was gay, and we were not allowed</p><p>to be open about who we were.</p><p>(sad mic)</p><p>This is probably the sadst picture I uld thk of,</p><p>bee 's the last photo that I had wh my mom</p><p>before she went to the hospice.</p><p>My mom was my bt iend.</p><p>If I uld talk to my mother right now this moment.</p><p>Mom, I have so much to tell you.</p><p>Oh gosh, first of all, I am engaged to the love of my life,</p><p>who I believe you sent to me.</p><p>I feel really blsed and I'm really really happy.</p><p>Probably the happit I've ever been my life,</p><p>and I jt wish you uld've been here.</p><p>Everythg is ol, I really uldn't want for
