watched when they were younger that reprented who they were, and the list is limed.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">More often than not when televisn shows hted at a character beg LGBT+, our hop would be swiftly dashed when that story le failed to materialise, or worse, the character was simply killed off.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">In animatn and children's televisn there was even ls reprentatn - until now.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">Creator Noelle Stevenson's visn for the Dreamworks' reboot of the 1980s rtoon She-Ra was this: "Anyone n be a hero."</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">Available on <a class="qNUzV q7LZa" data-ttid="next-lk-anchor" href="/news/topic/flix"><span class="n6NlI">Netflix</span></a>, the animated seri follows the journey of Adora - an orphan who disvers a magil sword that transforms her to legendary warrr prcs She-Ra.</p><div class="_8xmX9 A8Lwr" data-ttid="embed-twter"><blockquote class="twter-tweet"><a href="></a></blockquote></div><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">The hero of the seri are a group of characters rarely seen on our screens - queer people, non-bary people, ethnic mori, the list go on. </p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">"She-Ra is a show wh such a wi range of characters, and we really jt wanted to show - this sounds a ltle chey - but that anyone n be a hero," Stevenson says.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">"You hear that a lot but you still tend to see one specific, narrow archetype of character who gets to be the hero."</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">In She-Ra: Prcs of Power 's the butch characters, the boy who wears hearts and the prcs who isn't size eight who get their moment.</p><div class="_8xmX9 GxuVE A8Lwr" data-ttid="embed-youtube"><iame allowfullscreen="" class="QVDk0" src=" tle="Youtube embed" loadg="lazy"></iame></div><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">"They are heroic - they are the hero, they are the ma characters, the protagonists and there is no holdg back on that," Stevenson says.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">"That was somethg that was really important for to show - 'Hey you, and you, and you, and you, this is your world. The uld be your powers. implyg a same-sex storyle or character orr to get the attentn of fans, but then failg to liver any LGBT+ reprentatn.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">The relatnship between Eve and Villanelle Killg Eve, is one example - or Fn and Poe Stars Wars: The Rise of Starwalker.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">Stevenson says if creators back their own visn for queer reprentatn televisn, support om the fanbase will help ph studs and productn pani to sign off.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">"We got such an outpourg of support for what we were able to clu early on, and that paved the way for to go further wh the last seasons," they say.</p><div class="_8xmX9 A8Lwr" data-ttid="embed-twter"><blockquote class="twter-tweet"><a href="></a></blockquote></div><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">"It was really great to be able to tell the stori that I was so passnate about and have them be not jt implied and not jt there the background, but have be the central arc of the entire show and thematilly what this show is all about."</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">That mment has been regnised by viewers and crics alike.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">She-Ra is up for an NAACP (US civil rights anisatn the Natnal Associatn for the Advancement of Colored People) Image Award this year and has a GLAAD (a US media monorg anisatn) nomatn for outstandg kids and fay programmg.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">The voice actors workg on the show reflect the diversy of the characters on screen too.</p><p class="A8Lwr BVYCX">The stg procs went somethg like this, Stevenson says: "Here’s what you maybe expect -
