Wdsor has a long history of activists the 2SLGBTQIA muny and Monk was one of the early members of the first gay activist anizatn Wdsor, which started 1972. He was part of a group who fought the Wdsor Star when the paper refed to prt an ad for a muny dance 1973, argug that the ad “exploed sex and was bad taste” — the dance was simply tled the “Gay Dance.
