The Dghters of Bilis, found 1955, was the first lbian-centred anisatn the USA, while the Mattache Society, one of the earlit gay rights anizatns the USA, beme headquartered San Francis 1956. It was the first openly gay bar wh opened wdows San Francis, floutg the laws that once required gay bars to have blackened wdows or no wdows at all.
