A BRIEF HISTORY OF LBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENR SOCIAL MOVEMENTS

It took unrelentg advocy until fally passed real leap forward the gay rights movement followg the Stonewall rts 1969 was 1977 when the first referendum battle over gay rights took place Da County, Florida.

A mpaign to repeal that law was quickly mobilized, led by pop sger and Christian fundamentalist Ana we predictably were unable to feat the referendum (I was the mpaign manager for the gay si), the huge impact of the Da County battle was to put gay rights squarely on the natn's polil and social agenda, th acplishg the number one goal of our movement, and all social movements: gag visibily for our muny and our Gay Pri march was lnched 1970 and ntu to this day on the last Sunday of June to memorate the anniversary of the Stonewall rts, but unlike other major paras which marched down Fifth Avenue, the gay rights celebrants were relegated to marchg up Sixth Avenue.
