where thgs aren't clive, and we're gog to be brgg a perspective to the stori that are so sperately need.” Low add that <em>Korra</em> fely ma room for more queer storytellg, “but a lot of studs give the rponse of, ‘Well, they're children, explorg queerns is outsi the spe of this show.’ Yet we all know straight characters and their romanc are put to stori for kids as early as krgarten.”</p><p>This may be havg an impact on animated seri for all ag. Simon Lus Howe, a posor for <em>Big Mouth</em> and <em>Bls the Harts</em>, suggted that <em>Korra</em> set a standard regardls of the age mographic. “After <em>Korra</em>, we saw a lot of flux of queer characters and stori adult animatn,” he said. Moreover, “what adults have learned is what they teach to their children. He says he intified as a lbian at the time, and that watchg Korra try to save the world on top of figurg out her inty rang te to Howe. It spired him to work wh people who would be acceptg of him — and he says he’s thankfully found that at Netflix.</p><p>“[I’ve] been asked for my opns and personal story regardg my queer and trans-ns to help wh character and story velopment,” he said. “It ma me feel more important to the show and to the crew.”</p><div role="headg" aria-level="3" class="headg-h3"><strong>Teamwork Mak The Dream Work</strong></div><p>Everyone who <em>them.</em> spoke wh agreed that what’s necsary movg forward is solidary keepg up the momentum of queer reprentatn on children’s programmg, and addg further variabily to the sorts of them and characters portrayed.</p><p>Howe noted that we need more queer stori about people of lor and people wh disabili, and Sreebny said that there’s a lot to learn when wrg trans or non-bary characters. As more of those stori get told, Ostertag said, “we n then worry a b ls about havg every queer character be a perfect role mol and jt let them be weird and specific, wh the knowledge that there’s so many others out there.”</p><div data-attr-viewport-monor="le-recirc" class="le-recirc-wrapper le-recirc-observer-target-3 viewport-monor-anchor"></div><p>Rella referred to this as the “rep sweats,” strsg about the reprentatn your show is brgg, and “hopefully we n subtract some of the growg pas for the people that e next.”</p><p>Much has been achieved sce Korra and Asami looked longgly to each other’s ey, but everyone regniz the work that li ahead. It’s ccial to add queerns whenever possible, even if ’s jt a background shot, bee that helps normalize somethg that <em>is</em> fundamentally normal.</p><p>“One of my strongt beliefs is that art should reflect the world we live , and leavg out queer folks is like leavg out a huge puzzle piece,” Low said. “We matter and our stori are necsary.”</p><p>Whether ’s a protagonist g out or steppg to kids as early as krgarten.”</p><p>This may be havg an impact on animated seri for all ag. Simon Lus Howe, a posor for <em>Big Mouth</em> and <em>Bls the Harts</em>, suggted that <em>Korra</em> set a standard regardls of the age mographic. “After <em>Korra</em>, we saw a lot of flux of queer characters and stori adult animatn,” he said. Moreover, “what adults have learned is what they teach to their children. He says he intified as a lbian at the time, and that watchg Korra try to save the world on top of figurg out her inty rang te to Howe. It spired him to work wh people who would be acceptg of him — and he says he’s thankfully found that at Netflix.</p><p>“[I’ve] been asked for my opns and personal story regardg my queer and trans-ns to help wh character and story velopment,” he said. “It ma me feel more important to the show and to the crew.”</p><div role="headg" aria-level="3" class="headg-h3"><strong>Teamwork Mak The Dream Work</strong></div><p>Everyone who <em>them.</em> spoke wh agreed that what’s necsary movg forward is solidary keepg up the momentum of queer reprentatn on children’s programmg, and addg further variabily to the sorts of them and characters portrayed.</p><p>Howe noted that we need more queer stori about people of lor and people wh disabili, and Sreebny said that there’s a lot to learn when wrg trans or non-bary characters. As more of those stori get told, Ostertag said, “we n then worry a b ls about havg every queer character be a perfect role mol and jt let them be weird and specific, wh the knowledge that there’s so many others out there.”</p><div data-attr-viewport-monor="le-recirc" class="le-recirc-wrapper le-recirc-observer-target-3 viewport-monor-anchor"></div><p>Rella referred to this as the “rep sweats,” strsg about the reprentatn your show is brgg, and “hopefully we n subtract some of the growg pas for the people that e next.”</p><p>Much has been achieved sce Korra and Asami looked longgly to each other’s ey, but everyone regniz the work that li ahead. It’s ccial to add queerns whenever possible, even if ’s jt a background shot, bee that helps normalize somethg that <em>is</em> fundamentally normal.</p><p>“One of my strongt beliefs is that art should reflect the world we live , and leavg out queer folks is like leavg out a huge puzzle piece,” Low said. “We matter and our stori are necsary.”</p><p>Whether ’s a protagonist g out or steppg to
