The Comeback was a succsor to the popular Capol Hill based gay bar, RPlace which was forced to shut down durg the Covid-19 epimic when s landlords refed to renew the bar’s lease. Nightlife do exist that area but is largely cltered around the stadiums or nsists of more night club/dis oriented statn spots like Supernova, the LGBTQ+ iendly night club and The Monkey Loft, a popular EDM venue that is also gay posive.
As the Edorial Director/Co-Owner, Michael Strangeways wr, eds and do about a ln other jobs for Seattle Gay Scene, Puget Sound's most vised LGBTQ news, arts and entertament webse now celebratg s 14th year as a media outlet. The Comeback was started by Floyd Lovelady (wh partners) who was the longtime manager at beloved Capol Hill gay bar R Place which closed durg the Covid shutdown after the owners of the buildg chose not to renew their lease.
While fans of R Place and their staff, many of whom moved to The Comeback, were exced about their favore gay bar rurrectg, others speculated if the new bar uld make . Afterall, R Place was a neighborhood gay bar that had been loted a nsely populated part of Seatte that was home to many LGBTQ+ people. While there are other nightlife venu that district, cludg the gay iendly/welg night clubs The Monkey Loft and Supernova, both of those bs are statn venu mostly open on the weekends and are more specifilly brand as night clubs rather than as neighborhood bars.
